A year ago, on this day, I moved. Most people don’t want to remember this time of mask wearing, isolation, and death. I understand that. But the act of remembering is important to me. This past year I spent the most time with myself than ever before. Despite the silence and isolation, on most days, I was at peace with who I was, am, and will become. I wrote a thing about how in many ways I became transparent, my human form turned into a looking glass, a mirror of sorts. Link is in the bio if you want to read some of my thoughts. In the 5 months that followed these pics, lots of things happened that let me know I was supposed to return to Chicago. Very soon, I will start at the University of Chicago in the Office of Civic Engagement doing work that has me connecting a large research university with the lower resourced community directly outside the gates of the institution. This is very on brand for me, because if you know me, you know I speak OFTEN about the ways in which opportunity or the lack thereof is the only difference between people inside of higher ed institutions and people outside of it. Understanding the space elite higher ed institutions take up in communities is work that NEEDS to happen. I am so excited for this new chapter and am super thankful to God and all the people that helped me get here! • • • Also I promise to post pics soon that are current, but I have been on the grind these past few months!
